, A man has been arrested for the assault of a Lincoln liquor store employee.
Lincoln Police Officer Erin Spilker says 20-year-old Izaiah Bartu was taken into custody Wednesday evening in the 400 block of West A Street.
Bartu is charged with robbery, use of a weapon to commit a felony, and minor in possession of alcohol.
Police were sent to Ken’s Kegs in the 1300 block of North 48th Street around 11 AM Tuesday on reports of a fight.
A 29-year-old employee told officers he was assaulted after confronting a shoplifter who was observed taking two bottles of liquor and leaving the store.
“The male struck the employee on the side of the head with a glass Jack Daniels bottle, causing a large laceration,” said Spilker.
Another employee saw what was happening and instructed two women standing nearby to call the police.
“The females did not assist,” said Spilker. “Actually, one of them picked up a bottle that was discarded during the fight and got into a nearby vehicle.”
The shoplifter, identified as Bartu, struck the employee in the head again and drove away with two women.
The women, 19-year-olds Amy Fowlkes and Michelle Foster, were arrested for being accessories to a felony.
