Hospitals will be able to do elective surgeries again next month.

At today’s coronavirus media briefing Governor Pete Ricketts says he plans to ease his statewide health restrictions on May 4th.

“We want to open these back up to be able to allow those folks who need to have those surgeries to be able to start scheduling those and start having those surgeries performed,” said Ricketts. “It’s also an important source of revenue for many hospitals.”

But there is a catch.

To qualify under the modified measure, hospitals will have to have 30% of their hospital and ICU beds free, 30% of their ventilators free and at least two weeks worth of Personal Protective Equipment.

Ricketts adds the measure would also apply to dental and veterinary services.
