One of the biggest three-day jumps in in lab-confirmed cases in Lincoln grows to 22.
10 more added today bringing the overall total to 85.
“Over the weekend we saw the new cases, in which people who live in the same household as someone with COVID-19, who were also infected,” Pat Lopez, interim director for the Lincoln-Lancaster County Health Department said at the city’s daily news update.
She says the additional cases aren’t surprising as testing capacity grows. Since many of the cases were close contacts, Lopez added to take extra precautions at home if someone is infected with the virus.
She also confirmed one of the cases is an employee at Smithfield Foods.
“But we have not been able to confirm the source of the exposure to that individual,” she said.
One of the creators is the health department’s infectious disease doctors, Raju Kakarpudi.
“In this application, you will notice that we have many data points. One of these is the total number of lab confirmed cases. The second is number of deaths due to COVID-19,” he says.
The dashboard is similar to the state’s and summarizes different data points. It also includes the zip code being most affected.
“We are not divulging the exact number of cases in each individual zip code to protect patient confidentiality.”
The dashboard is currently active.
