Three people are arrested after Lincoln police follow a vehicle stolen out of Crete.

The Lincoln Police Department reports that just before 9 pm Thursday,  members of the Lincoln-Lancaster County Narcotics Task observed a newer vehicle had been spray-painted black in the area of 21st and K Streets.

Investigators ran the plates and found the vehicle had been reported stolen out of Cass County.

As the investigators followed the stolen vehicle, they noticed it made several stops.

During one stop, police were able to identify the occupants as 39-year-old Joey Applegarth and 27-year-old Nicole Bruton.

They followed the vehicle until it reached America’s Best Value Inn at 5600 Cornhusker where the suspects were seen entering one of the rooms.

Applegarth soon exited the room with another man who left the scene before officers could make contact.

Applegarth was arrested and a search of the stolen vehicle uncovered paraphernalia with residue that tested positive for meth.

Police obtained a search warrant for the room at the Inn, where police found Bruton, 21-year-old Tyler Ball, and more paraphernalia with residue that tested positive for meth and marijuana.

Applegarth, Bruton, and Ball were arrested for theft and possession of a controlled substance
