A Lincoln man assaults his cousin, smashes his cousin’s windows with his bare hands, and then assaults an officer.

Lincoln Police Officer Luke  Bonkiewicz says police were called to a residence in the 4900 block of Fremont Street around 7:15 pm Sunday on reports of a disturbance in progress.

On arrival, they contacted a 42-year-old victim who told officers his cousin, 39-year-old David Hefner, punched him in the back of the head after Hefner attempted to break into his home.

Hefner had fled the area before police arrived, but not before shattering several of the residence’s windows with his hands, which the victim captured on video.

Hefner was located a few minutes later with towels wrapped around his bloodied hands.

Officers helped transport Hefner to a hospital where he became agitated and aggressive and wound up kicking an officer in his upper right thigh.

Once medically cleared, Hefner was cited and lodged for attempted 2nd-degree assault and 3rd-degree assault on a police officer.
