Nebraska’s second meatpacking plant is closing due to high positive lab-confirmed cases of COVID-19.

The Schuyler-based Cargill plant which processes beef cattle announced Monday night it would close temporarily and hope to reopen May 18.

Officials wrote employees will get paid for 36-hours a week.

Colfax County has 241 cases as of Tuesday morning with a 65-percent positivity rate.

The first was a Tyson plant in Dakota City.
