A call from a concerned citizen leads police to a stolen vehicle.
Officer Erin Spilker says police were called to the intersection of 40th and Old Cheney around 4:30 am Thursday after a caller reported multiple vehicles stopped at the light and people yelling at each other.
As an officer approached, one of the vehicles took off, running a red light in the process.
“The officer then put on their lights and siren, however, the vehicle engaged in dangerous driving behavior and the officer stopped pursuing,” said Spilker.
Officers eventually located the vehicle abandoned in a parking lot near 40th and Pine Lake a short while later.
When the vehicle’s registered owner was contacted, he reported being unaware his vehicle had been taken.
Spilker calls the incident another good example of a concerned citizen calling in something suspicious so officers can investigate.
Anyone who may have more information about the theft is encouraged to call police or Crimestoppers.
