Good news for Nebraskans from the Department of Motor Vehicles.
At Today’s ( Tuesdays) gubernatorial COVID-19 News briefing, Governor Pete Ricketts announced he’s signed an executive order extending expiring licenses for those who are 72-years-old or older by one year.
“What that is really about is making sure that our seniors don’t have to wait in line as we anticipate that there’s some pent up demand for people getting their driver’s licenses,” said Ricketts.
For younger Nebraskans, another big announcement as DMV Director Rhonda Lamm reported driving tests will resume Wednesday for all counties with courthouses open to walk-in, public traffic, and open DMV offices.
Lamm says in order to keep in line with guidelines, customers will have to wear face coverings when taking the test.
The testing announcement does not apply for Lancaster County whose offices remain closed.
