Another scam is making the rounds, this time with callers pretending to be from LES.
Officer Erin Spilker says she and other city employees have received the calls lately.
“They’re saying if you don’t pay your bill within 30 minutes then your power will be shut off,” said Spilker
Spilker says that’s not how LES does business.
“They send a letter first, and then they have 12 days from the time of that letter to try and get their account taken care of,” said Spilker. “From that point, they never call you.”
Scammers can disguise their numbers and impersonate city workers from any department.
Residents can call LES at 402-475-4211 to verify account status if they are concerned. Call Lincoln Police at 402-441-6000 to report any scams or frauds.
