The Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office made two arrests after an investigation that started on January 23, 2020.
Investigators were looking into an Oxycontin and other opioid investigation involving a Lincoln physician and another man.
Sheriff Terry Wagner says 54-year-old Keith Hughes was writing prescriptions for the drugs to 32-year-old Colby Digilio and then buying them back.
Tuesday afternoon, Digilio was seen picking up a prescription at a pharmacy and deputies made a traffic stop. Digilio was in possession of eight Oxycontin pills, more than $900 in cash and a handgun. Later on Tuesday, Hughes was also stopped by deputies and he was found to have 80 Oxycontin pills in his possession. Investigators then found out that Hughes had been prescribing the pills to Digilio for a two year period and received 63 prescriptions totaling 4,232 pills.
Digilio was booked for possession of a controlled substance and on weapons charges. Hughes was booked for possession of narcotics with intent to deliver and obtaining drugs through fraud.
