A man is accused of starting an argument and pistol-whipping another man last night near 65th and O Street.
Lincoln Police were called to a parking lot at the Gateway Mall around 9:30 p.m. Witnesses and victims told police they were hanging out and talking when they were approached by 48-year-old Jerry Anderson, who started harassing one of the friends gathered.
That person told Anderson to leave the group alone and to leave the area. Anderson then apparently pulled out a handgun and hit the victim in the neck. He then pointed the gun at the victim and stated he was going to kill him. Anderson then apparently hit the victim several times in the stomach before leaving the scene.
Officers found Anderson a short distance away. He was in possession of a weapon. Anderson was under the influence of alcohol, about 2 1/2 times the legal limit. Anderson was booked for making terroristic threats, use of a weapon to commit a felony and 2nd offense aggravated DUI.
The victim was not seriously hurt.
