Police working a traffic stop at 49th and Leighton Avenue at 1:36 this morning saw a young woman holding a baby running toward them asking for help.  Police say the 18-year-old woman was only wearing underwear and was carrying a four-month-old child and was asking to be put in the back of the police car for her safety.

The woman told police that her boyfriend, 18-year-old Mirzad Osmonovic, had been assaulting her for several days and he became irate and was throwing things following a new argument  The woman then became so afraid that she grabbed the child and ran.

Officers also talked to neighbors who told them they heard shouting and then saw the victim running from the apartment.  One neighbor chased after Osmanovic attempting to intervene when he turned around and threatened the neighbor with a beating and said he would be stabbed.  Another neighbor saw Osmanovic walk back into the apartment where he apparently put the knife away and then returned outside to shout at the neighbor until police walked up to talk to him.

Officers found two kitchen knives in the living room.  Osmanovic was booked for two counts of domestic assault, two counts of child abuse, terroristic threats, and the use of a weapon to commit a felony.  Officers cited Osmanovic for multiple counts of domestic assault and child abuse due to incidents that happened prior to July 17th.
