Officers Injured During Sunday Disturbance At Pharmacy

Lincoln Police were called to the Walgreens at 17th and South Street around 4:15 p.m Sunday for a disturbance. Officers arrived to see 31 yea told Ray Burns causing a disturbance at the pharmacy counter.  Burns then jumped the counter into the employee section of the pharmacy.  
Officers then tried to place Burns into custody but he resisted arrested by ripping his arms free from officers and hitting one in the head.  That caused a cut that required four staples to close.  A second officer suffered abrasions, bruising and swelling of an arm.
Burns was eventually taken into custody.  He was booked for 2 counts of third-degree assault on a police officer and for resisting arrest.
