Police were called to Holmes Lake Park at 63rd and Normal Blvd Monday evening at 8:30 p.m. after receiving a report that a man was yelling and threatening people.
Officers found 48-year-old Christopher Weddle swimming in the lake near the shore. Police found his belongings that included an almost empty bottle of vodka. Weddle was clearly intoxicated and refused to get out of the water. Weddle decided to swim farther away from the officers and taunted them to come and get him.
After about 30 minutes, Weddle swam back to shore and was arrested for refuse to comply with order of police, possession of alcohol in a city park and swimming or wading in a city park.
