The Lincoln-Lancaster County Health Department announced that 80 lab-confirmed cases of COVID-19 have been reported in Lincoln today, bringing the community total to 2,597. The number of deaths in the community remains at 14.
The cases reported today are the second-highest single-day amount since 90 cases were reported in May. “Today’s significant caseload urgently reminds us all to do our part to prevent the spread of the virus,” said Mayor Gaylor Baird. “Wash your hands, wear a mask, and watch your distance, keeping six feet from others. These proven public health strategies are vital to our ability to keep businesses open, get our kids back to school, and prevent further illness and death.”
Recoveries: up from 869 to 930
The overall positivity rate for Lancaster County is up from 6.6% to 6.7%. The Nebraska rate is down from 9.6% to 9.5%. The National rate remains at 9.6%
Hospitalizations for COVID-19 positive patients: 19 with 15 from Lancaster County and four from other communities.

The COVID-19 Risk Dial is at “Orange,” indicating a high risk of the virus spreading. Residents are advised to follow these recommendations to protect themselves and others:
Stay home if possible.
Stay at least six feet away from others.
Wear face coverings.
Wash hands frequently.
Those at risk of complications from COVID-19 should continue to minimize close contact with others.
