Officers with Lincoln Police Bycycle Patrol spotted a man near 7th and Q Street Sunday around midnight walking from the Railyard Entertainment Area with an alcoholic beverage in his hand. Officers saw the man take several drinks from a cup while walking in the street.
Police then made contact with the man who dumped the drink and ran. Officers caught up to the man after he tripped and fell. The man resisted officers and after a struggle he was taken into custody. During a search of 30 year old Ezell Rios Jr. of Lincoln, police found a loaded handgun and 23.2 grams of cocaine with a street value of about $2,300. He was also in possession of over $1,000 in cash in pants.
Rios was arrested for possession of cocaine with intent to deliver, possession of a firearm during a drug violation, tampering with physical evidence, possessing money while violating a drug law, carrying a concealed weapon, obstructing government operations, resisting arrest and consuming (alcohol) in public.
