Two of the three bodies of government needed to approve Patricia Lopez as a permanent health director signed off to remove the interim tag.
Monday night, several unmasked testifiers after refusing to wear mask when asked, voiced their concern over the directed health measure and treatment of businesses in policies put forth by Lopez. They also refused to distance before a recess was called and then the meeting proceeded.
The concern fell on deaf ears as council members unanimously approved Lopez’s tag.
The next concern was whether or not the policies implemented could retroactively still be followed and on a 6-1 vote, Lincoln’s City Council approved.
Tuesday morning, the Lancaster County Board of Commissioners also approved Lopez.
The Board of Health is scheduled to meet Thursday and vote too.
