Two women are facing vandalism charges after police were called to an apartment building near 9th and G Street at 4 p.m. on August 20th.
Officers were told that two women with baseball bats were hitting doors and windows of a unit.
When officers arrived, they saw two women matching the description of the suspects. They took off running and officers gave chase. One woman was arrested after a brief struggle.
The second woman forced her way into a home at 8th and G Street. The homeowner told police he saw the woman run into the house and that she was being chased by police. There were children inside the home at the time. The woman, 26 year old Ashley Laravie was taken into custody after the homeowner pushed her out of the door where officers were waiting.
The other suspect is identified as 41 year old Angela Oswald.
Police say the victim inside her apartment heard banging on her door and ignored it. She looked outside to see both suspects breaking windows on a neighboring apartment and trying to get inside. Police saw the damage to the windows as well as the lock on the victim’s door had been damaged.
Laravie was booked for failure to comply, injure or destroy property, disturbing the peace and trespassing. Oswald was booked for failure to comply, injure or destroy property and for disturbing the police.
