An alert resident is credited for helping Lincoln Police locate suspects in a vehicle break-in spree around 1:30 a.m. on August 27th. This happened at the Pine Lake Heights Apartment parking lot in the 7000 block of S 38th Street. A witness told police that several vehicles had been broken into.
When police arrived the saw a minivan pulling out of the parking lot. The officer was able to get a description and a plate number. Another officer spotted the minivan around 48th and Highway 2 and were able to contact 15 and 19 year old males. Officers were able to positively identify the suspects through witnesses as being in the parking lot. Stolen property was also found inside the van.
19 year old Taylen Ross was cited for three counts of theft by unlawful taking. The 15 year old was referred for the same offense and turned over to a parent.
Lincoln Police want to thank the witness who called in and alerted police. The department states this is the most effective way to catch those breaking into vehicles. They also rely on neighbors to be eyes and ears for the department when they con not be there.
