On Saturday, September 9th, Lincoln Police were called to 17th and Old Glory around 1:20 a.m. after receiving a report of a possible weapons violation in progress. Police say a 14 year old reported that 21 year old Garrison Menifee had threatened individuals inside the residence with a knife.
Police contacted Menifee inside the home but he refused to comply with officers and attempted to run toward a table containing a knife. As the officers were attempting to prevent Menifee from grabbing the knife, he punched one officer in the head. The officer was later examined at a local hospital and diagnosed with a concussion.
Officers used a taser to take Menifee into custody. Officers interviewed other residents and learned that Menifee had assaulted her ex-girlfriend by biting her, punching and kicking her head, and slamming her head into a wall. Officers saw bruising and abrasions consistent with her statements.
Officers booked Menifee for Assault on a Police Officer and 3rd degree domestic assault.
