An arrest has been made in a deadly hit-and-run on Monday, September 21st at 10:30 p.m. at 12th and Belmont. Officers found a man on the ground. A bystander was performing CPR as the officer searched the area for the vehicle responsible. A witness stated it may be in the area of 12th and Garber. The victims, 41 year old Victor Melendez was rushed to a hospital and later died.
After interviewing witnesses, officers identified the driver as 29 year old Hani Hadgi. On Tuesday, officers contacted Hadgi at 7 p.m. in the 2600 block of North 5th Street. Hadgi was taken into custody and booked for leaving the scene of an accident involving injury or death.
Investigators are still conducting follow-up to determine the timeline of events prior to the accident. As that progresses, Hadgi could face more charges.
