Arrest Made In Hit-And-Run Involving Cruisers And Outstanding Felony Warrants

With the help of the Nebraska State Patrol Air Wing, an arrest is made dating back to September 24th. Sheriff Terry Wagner says officers had been following 19 year old Duop Wiyual Duop Monday around 2 p.m. when he parked near North 23rd and Dodge. During a foot pursuit, Duop had a gun in his hand and was seen throwing it at the door of a hotel on North 26th Street. The gun was recovered and Duop was taken into custody.

On September 24th, the Metro Area Fugitive Task Force saw Duop leave a residence on North 49th street and get into a vehicle and headed south on North 48th from Holdrege. Task Force members were able to box in Duop’s vehicle and as members approached his car, he put his vehicle in reverse and hit two of the cruisers and another vehicle. He left the scene. Damage to the vehicles is estimated at $6,900.

Duop was wanted on bench warrants for on several failure to appear charges, distributing a controlled substance, several possession of money, and tampering with evidence. He will also face charges events on September 24th that include hit-and-run and for carrying a concealed weapon.
