Fictitious License Plates Lead To Drug Arrest

A man is facing weapons and drug charges after police spotted a vehicle with fictitious plates near 48th and W around 7 p.m. Wednesday. Police tried to stop the vehicle but the driver took off.  The chase was stopped due to dangerous driving behavior.  Officers were able to identify the driver.

A short time later, the vehicle was found unoccupied at 50th and Francis Street.  Officers saw the driver walking a short distance away and he was stopped at 49th and Garland Street.  40 year old Josh Miller was taken into custody without incident.

During the search of the vehicle, police found a fixed blade knife with a cutting edge of 3 3/4 inches hidden in the driver’s door.  Police also found two backpacks that contained 6 pills of Vyvanse, a schedule II narcotic and 1 pill of Clonazepam, a schedule IV narcotic.  The search also turned up glass pikes with meth residue, THC wax, almost 30 grams of marijuana, baggies with methamphetamine reside, a scale and other paraphernalia.

Miller was booked for Operate a Motor Vehicle to Avoid Arrest, three counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of a Deadly Weapon by a Prohibited Person, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Possession of Marijuana, Fictitious License Plates, and multiple traffic violations including willful reckless driving.
