A police investigation involving a 37 year old suspect started on October 27th when a woman reported that someone had been using her bank card that she thought she lost. That card was used at ATMs, restaurants and a liquor store and nearly $700 was taken from the woman’s account. She told police she thought a person who lived at her residence may be responsible. Scott Enevoldsen was seen on a surveillance video making purchases with her bank card.
On November 4th around 7 p.m., a man called police to report his 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee after he left it unlocked and running at the McDonalds at 21st and K. On November 4th at 7:15 p.m., police were called to investigate license plates being taken off vehicles in the parking lot of the Health Department at 31st and O Street. Police there were able to get a description of the suspect from witnesses and of the vehicle involved.
On November 5th just before 11 a.m., officers were called to the Burger King at 38th and Old Cheney that a vehicle that had backed into another vehicle. When officers approached the driver responsible, later identified as Enevoldsen in the stolen Jeep. As officers were contacting him, Enevoldsen drove off. Officers then made the decision not to give chase due to the potential of collisions or injuries.
On November 11th at 4:20 p.m. officers were called to the U-Stop at 32nd and Superior to investigate a gas drive-off. The suspect matched Enevoldsen’s description, the vehicle was a black Jeep, $30 in gas was taken.
On November 12th at 9:18 p.m., police were called to 48th and Bunker Hill Road that someone in a black Jeep was stealing license plates off another black Jeep.
On November 14th, police located Enevoldsen at a residence at 64th and Ballard Avenue after a family member reported there was a stolen jeep parked outside the home. Inside the Jeep, police found stolen license plates.
Enevoldsen was booked for Theft by Unlawful Taking, multiple counts of Theft by Receiving, Unauthorized Use of a Financial Transaction Device, Flee To Avoid Arrest, Leaving the Scene of an Accident, and Driving While License Revoked/Suspended. Due to the volume of incidents, this arrest required coordination among approximately a dozen officers and investigators across multiple patrol teams.
