7th Arrest Made In Gun Thefts From Game & Parks Vehicle

Another arrest is made in the theft of three guns from a Game and Parks vehicle on November 25th in the 100 block of West Lombard Drive.

On December 11th just before 7 p.m., investigators spoke with a 16 year old at his home at 51st and Emerald and learned he was the last person in possession of the guns.  Invesgiators then served a search warrant and recovered a High Point rifle that had the serial number defaced and unreadable.

The 16 year old then admitted to participating in the burglary of Russ’s Market at 15th and S Coddington on November 21st just before midnight.  In that burglary the glass door was borken and hundred of dollars in liquor and cigarettes were taken.  Investigators located clothing worn by the teen during the burglary inside the home.

The 16-year-old was arrested for Possession of a Stolen Firearm, Possession of a Defaced Firearm, and Burglary.  He was turned over to the Youth Assessment Center.  We encourage anyone with information about this case to contact LPD at 402-441-6000 or make an anonymous report to Crime Stoppers at 402-475-3600.

There were six earlier arrests made in the gun theft investigation.  The suspects ranged in age from 15 to 19.  They were cited and/or booked on weapons charges.

Two of the guns taken remain missing.  The investigation continues.
