Lincoln Fire and Rescue were called to a trailer home fire at 10:45 a.m. Monday, December 14th at 25th and Cleveland. Fire crews reported seeing a black column of smoke and on arrival crews found a single wide mobile home fully involved in fire.
Firefighters fought the blaze from the outside due to extent of flames. The fire was under control in about 15 minutes. No injuries were reported. The fire did cause exterior damage to the mobile home next door.
The tenants of the mobile home were using a propane heater inside the home which was determined to be the fire cause.
The total damage estimated to be $10,000 structure and contents.
A reminder that propane heaters are not designed to use indoors. Not only is this a fire danger but also a danger of CO poisoning.
