Lincoln Police were called to the 1300 block of SW 8th Street on December 13th to take a report of a burglary. A man had been moving out of his residence and had gathered his firearms together and placed them on a dolly. While he was gone from the house someone walked inside and took them. Seven firearms, ammunition and a gun cleaning kit were taken. The total loss was just over $3,500.
Officers conducted an investigation. Tire tracks from the dolly were located and a security video along with that track captured a man pulling the dolly around 3:30 p.m. that day. The victim was able to identify the man from the video as 40 year old Jeremiah Nyhoff.
Police went to Nyhoff’s home on December 15th just before 7 p.m. and he was taken into custody. The homeowner allowed officers to search the property and all seven firearms, the ammunition and the gun cleaning kit were found.
Nyhoff was booked on six counts of possession of a stolen firearm, possession of a firearm by a prohibited person and burglary.
