On December 18th, police were called to 19th and J Street at 6 p.m. to investigate a disturbance.  Neighbors called police saying they heard furniture being thrown inside an apartment and officers heard shouting when they arrived.  Officers saw 36 year old Damien Brown following a woman and yelling at her.  When the officer tried to speak with Brown he became verbally aggressive with the officer and threatened him.

At one point, Brown removed his jacket and said it was time to fight the officers.  Police at the scene were trying to figure out what happened prior to the disturbance but due to Brow’s violent behavior they were not able to speak with the victim.  Brown was told several times that he was not allowed to leave the area but he tried to push past officers to join a family member who arrived.  Officers then tried to take Brown into custody and he fought back.  He forcefully pulled away causing officers to fall to the ground while the threats continued.

After a lengthily 15 minute struggle, Brown continued to resist arrested and again violently pushed officers off him.  A Taser was used to take him into custody.  One officer suffered cuts and abrasions to both hands that were bleeding.  Due to the use of a Taser, a medical unit was called.  Brown continued to fight with officers and paramedics and tried to bite them.  That struggle continued while on his way to a hospital to be checked out.

Brown continued to fight with corrections staff once he was taken to the Lancaster County Jail.  Brown was booked for 3rd degree assault on a police officer, resisting arrrest and obstructing a peace officer.

During the struggle with officers, 38 year old Leslie Brown, continued to come up behind officers and refused to comply with their commands to back up.  Despite several orders from officers, Leslie Brown refused to comply and interfered with the arrest of Damian Brown.  Leslie Brown was arrested for Interfering with an arrest.
