Man In Custody After Bomb Threat, 4 Hour Standoff With Lincoln Police

A 34 year old man is receiving care in a treatment facility after making threats On Wednesday, January 6th from his home near 36th and Van Dorn.

At 4:45, Lincoln Police received a call from a driver saying a man had threatened him with a hatchet.  About the same time a bomb threat was called in to the Lincoln Police Department.  Police quickly determined the same man was responsible for both.   Police found the man outside with a flammable device.  Police evacuated the area and started negotiations to get the man to surrender.

At one point the man started pouring gasoline on his home and property and shouted at police to kill him.  Police used less than lethal rounds on the man that caused minor injuries.  The standoff ended at 8:45 p.m. and the man was taken into custody without further incident and in for treatment.

LFR was called in to assist and checked the neighborhood to make sure the area was safe for residents to return.
