A man is facing a number of charges after police were called to the 5900 block of Glade Street on January 23rd at 8 a.m. on a report of a vehicle stopped and running in the middle of the street for at least 45 minutes. When officers arrived they found a man unresponsive in the front seat. Police eventually woke the man who showed signs of impairment.
20 year old Roscoe Schroder submitted to an alcohol pretest that was negative. Officers were taking an inventory of Schroder’s vehicle before it was towed and found a loaded Hi-Point 380 caliber handgun under the driver’s seat. The office found the gun had the serial number removed. Officers located syringes, 2 ½ pills of Alprazolam, several bags with unidentified powdery substances that will require further testing, and two vials of liquid. One of the liquids was darker in color and field tested positive for methamphetamine (8 grams).
A Drug Recognition Officer was called to assist with the DUI investigation and determined Schroeder was under the influence of drugs and unable to operate a vehicle safely.
Schroeder refused to provide a urine sample and was arrested for Possession of a Defaced Firearm, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Carrying a Concealed Weapon, DUI 1st Offense – Drugs, and Refusal of Chemical Test 1st Offense.
