The 2021 WellPower Challenge kicks off today, February 1st with the annual Governor’s Walk, which begins with a brief news conference at 10 a.m. in the Governor’s Hearing Room at the State Capitol. The news conference will be streamed live at www.NETNebraska.org/capitol/.

The purpose of the Governor’s Walk is to highlight the importance of regular exercise and to encourage citizens to use the free, web-based WellPower Challenge as motivation to achieve a healthier life. Gov. Ricketts will give pointers as to how he and his family are able to stay active and will encourage Nebraskans to maintain healthy lifestyles.

The public is welcome to participate in the Governor’s Walk virtually. Here’s how…

Step 1) Register for the WellPower Challenge for free at WellPowerMovement.com.

Step 2) Walk at least one mile in a safe location on Monday, Feb. 1, preferably outdoors.

Step 3) Log into your WellPowerMovement.com account and record your Feb. 1 mile(s) before 11 p.m.

Step 4) Post a photo of yourself walking or scenery from your walk on Facebook with #WellPowerUp.

Those who participate fully will earn the Governor’s Walk badge and are automatically entered into a drawing for a $50 Scheels gift card. The badge and gift card are the first of hundreds of prizes to be awarded during the WellPower Challenge, which runs Feb. 1 – April 30. Awards are based on mileage achieved through healthy physical, and, for the first time, mental wellness activities.

Registration for the WellPower Challenge is open and free at WellPowerMovement.com. Those interested in using the WellPower Challenge in their company wellness program are encouraged to view the instructional webinar.

The WellPower Movement is a collaboration between The Wellbeing Partners and the Nebraska Sports Council, Nebraska-based 501(c)(3) organizations with a combined 60+ years of experience in providing wellness programming.
