A traffic stop by a Lancaster County Sheriff Department deputy on Wednesday, February 24th ended with the discovery of 17 catalytic converters.
The deputy stopped the vehicle on I-80 and determined there was probable cause to search the vehicle after smelling marijuana. Inside the trunk were 17 catalytic converters, a cordless Sawzall and a 20 ton jack.
Inside the vehicle with Ohio plates were two men and a woman. Two were from Ohio and the other from Louisiana. One man told the deputy he was a scrapper and the converters belonged to him. They were on their way back to Ohio. None were arrested but the investigation on where the catalytic converters came from continues.
