A 30 year old man is facing charges after a traffic stop Thursday at 27th and O Street.   The officer contacted the driver, 30-year-old Claytavious Wiley, who provided paperwork for the vehicle that indicated it was purchased in May of 2020 but never registered.  The officer also noticed a strong odor of marijuana emanating from the vehicle.  The officer then conducted a probable cause search of the vehicle and located a loaded Kel-Tec handgun in the center console.

The officer immediately went to place Wiley into custody; however, he took off running from the officer.  The officer pursued on foot and gave several orders to stop and that he was under arrest.  Other officers arrived to assist, and they were able to take him into custody several blocks away.

After returning to the location of the traffic stop, the search of the vehicle continued.  The officer located several other Nebraska In-Transit papers with different dates that had already expired.  There was marijuana residue scattered throughout the vehicle and several pills that require prescription found in a toiletry bag.  Wiley did not have a prescription for these pills (Quetiapine Fumarate and Buspirone Hydrochloride).  The officer also located a stun gun, brass knuckles, and ammunition.

Wiley was arrested for Possession of a Deadly Weapon by a Prohibited Person, Subsequent Offense, Possession of a Deadly Weapon by a Prohibited Person, Domestic Violence Conviction, Carrying a Concealed Weapon, Obstructing a Police Officer, Possession of a Legend Drug, Possession of Marijuana, Operation of Unregistered vehicle, and Fictitious In-Transits.
