A trip to McDonalds didn’t turn out as planned for a man with is 3 year old daughter Saturday.  Lincoln Police were called to 2140 K Street around 1:17 p.m. to investigate a disturbance.

The victim told officers that a man approached them and started verbally and physically threatening them.  The suspect, 29 year old Andrew Spalding apparently started kicking things as he confronted them.  The victim was so concerned for his daughter’s safety that he opened the rear hatch to his vehicle and placed her inside.

When officers arrived Spalding started balling his fists and punching the palm of his hand while walking toward them and made remarks he was going to assault them.  Another officer approached Spaulding from behind and was able to wrap his arms around his chest and get him to the ground.  Spaulding continued to fight with officers and spit at them.  Spaulding was eventually taken into custody without injury to any involved.

Spaulding had an outstanding warrant for 3rd degree assault and possession of a concealed weapon.  He was booked on those outstanding charges along with assault on an officer with bodily fluid, resisting arrest, failure to obey lawful orders of a police officer and disturbing the peace.
