Lincoln Police saw a 2000 Mercedes C300 violating several traffic laws on Monday, March 15th at 6:44 p.m. near 36th and Huntington. Investigators were in the process of contacting the driver, 50 year old Earl Dean when he flung the vehicle in reverse, accelerated backwards away from the officers, eventually fled the parking lot. The investigators did not give chase.
On Wednesday, March 17, 2021, at approximately 6 p.m., investigators observed that vehicle near Walmart at 27th and Jamie Lane. When the vehicle pulled into the Walmart parking lot and Dean exited the vehicle, LPD investigators contacted him and placed him in custody.
During a search incident to arrest, investigators located the following items on Dean: 15.3 grams of a substance that pre-tested positive for methamphetamine, 17.5 grams of suspected marijuana, and $470 in U.S. currency.
LPD investigators cited and lodged Dean for Possession of Methamphetamine with Intent to Distribute- a felony, Possession of Money while Violating Controlled Substance Statute – a felony, and Operating a Motor Vehicle to Avoid Arrest.
