Lincoln Police saw a man with an outstanding warrant near 12th and Hill Street around 1:45 Monday afternoon.  Investigators had been looking for 48 year old Ajamu Shabazz for 2nd degree assault for hitting someone in the back of the head and neck with a baseball bat.

When Officers approached Shabazz he dropped two backpacks and ran.  After a foot chase and a search of the area, officers found Shabazz in a backyard in the 2600 block of South 13th Street.

Inside the backpacks Shabazz dropped was three baggies containing 5.7 grams, 3.4 grams, and 1.4 grams of suspected methamphetamine (total amount: 10.5 grams of suspected methamphetamine), , two baggies containing 3.4 grams and 1.5 grams of suspected marijuana (total amount: 4.9 grams of suspected marijuana), $117 in U.S. currency, a methamphetamine pipe, and numerous empty baggies.

Officers cited and lodged Shabazz for his felony warrant, as well as for Possession of Methamphetamine with Intent to Deliver (F), Possession of Money while Violating Controlled Substance Statute (F), and Resisting Arrest (M).
