Lincoln Police were called to a NW 53rd and W. Saint Paul around 3 a.m. Sunday, April 18th to investigate street racing between a blue Range Rover and a white GMC pickup. Both left the scene at a high rate of speed. Due to the dangerous driving behavior the officer terminated the chase. However, other officers in the area found the Range Rover at 53rd and W Saint Paul a short time later.
Officers also saw a teenaged male waking away from the vehicle. Officers spoke to the teen who was uncooperative and gave officers a false name. Eventually they were able to identify the boy as a 13 year old who had been reported missing on April 13th.
Officers also contacted the owner of the Range Rover who reported it had been taken from his home, along with a white GMC pickup sometime after 8 p.m. on Friday, April 17 and 3 a.m. Saturday morning. Both had been parked in front of his home and the doors were unlocked and the keys left inside.
The 13 year old was referred for making a false statement to an officer and was turned over to a parent.
The GMC pickup with no plates is still missing. The investigation continues. Anyone with information is encouraged to call Lincoln Police at 402-441-6000 or Crime Stoppers at 402-475-3600.
