A 16 year old with an outstanding warrant is again behind bars after Lincoln Police were called to the Walmart at 2500 Jamie Lane around 7:30 p.m. Friday, April 17th.
When officers were arrived they found the teen in a vehicle and tried to take him into custody. The boy became became aggressive and punched the officer several times in the face and tried to run. After a brief foot chase the boy was taken into custody. The boy was placed in the cruiser and while being taken to jail he kicked the interior of the car causing $1,000 in damage to the camera system.
Officers also questioned the people who were inside the vehicle with the teen at Walmart. They said his backpack was still on the floor where he had been seated and they believed there was a gun inside. Officers found a Glock 9mm handgun with five magazines in the backpack.
The teen was turned over to staff at the Youth Detention Center and referred for carrying a concealed weapon, vandalism, assault on a police officer and on the outstanding warrant . The officer suffered scrapes and bruising but did not require treatment.
It was determined the gun in possession of the teen had been reported stolen along with two AR-15 rifles. The rifles have not been located. That investigation continues.
