A 16 year old boy is facing charges after police were called to a home at 23rd and F around 1:30 p.m. Monday. Police found a 35 year old man who had been stabbed several times. He said he had been stabbed by his stepson who was still in the home. Officers saw the boy inside but he took off running from officers. They were eventually able to take him into custody ouside near the garage after a short chase.
Police determined the 16 year old was arguing with his mother, was becoming aggressive and tried to assault her. The boy’s stepfather tried to protect his wife and there was a physical confrontation between the boy and his stepfather. The boy had a hammer at one point but his mother and stepfather were able to get it away from him. The boy then grabbed a chef’s knife from the kitchen and stabbed his stepfather several times in the torso and arms.
The stepfather was treated at a hospital and will recover. The 16 year old was referred for 2nd degree assault and juvenile probation determined he should be turned over to the Youth Detention Center.
