Derek Chauvin Found Guilty On All Charges

By News Apr 20, 2021 | 4:26 PM

Former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin has been found guilty on all three charges related to the death of George Floyd last May.   The jury returned the verdict just after 4:00 Tuesday afternoon

Chauvin was found guilty of second degree intentional murder, third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter.  The judge ordered Chauvin back to court in eight weeks for sentencing.  Judge Peter Cahill also thanked the jurors their service and dismissed them.

In anticipation of the verdict and possible unrest that erupted last spring, the courthouse was ringed with concrete barriers and razor wire and thousands of National Guard troops and law enforcement officers were brought in. Some businesses were boarded up with plywood.
