Nebraska Troopers Supporting Minnesota Law Enforcement Agencies

By News Apr 20, 2021 | 1:01 PM

The Nebraska State Patrol says troopers will be responding to Minnesota to assist law enforcement agencies as a jury decides the fate of former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin, who is charged in the death of George Floyd.   Law enforcement is preparing for reactions once the verdict is rendered and Minnesota Governor Tim Walz has requested support from other states.

Nebraska State Patrol spokesperson Cody Thomas tells KLIN news the Nebraska State Patrol is responding to a request for assistance from officials in Minnesota. The request was made through the Emergency Management Assistance Compact, which is a partnership of emergency management agencies between states.

The NSP team is traveling to Minnesota this week and will be stationed at state facilities. The exact number of troopers making the trip is not yet known.
