Lincoln Police were contacted by a Snapchat user and started an investigation involving a man contacting a minor for sex. Investigators posing as a 16 year old juvenile chatted with 39 year old Travis Warnsing from April 27th through May 6th. During those conversations, Warnsing set up a meeting to pick up the juvenile for a sexual encounter.
On Thursday, May 6th at 3:40 a.m., Warnsing arrived at the location, 25 and M Street. Uniformed officers in a marked cruiser tried to stop his vehicle but Warnsing drove away. Investigators tracked Warnsing back to his home near 400 NW 23rd Street and arrested him around 3:49 a.m. Warnsing was cited for child enticement with electronic communication device, a felony and operating a motor vehicle to avoid arrest, a misdemeanor.
Warnsing is a 25 year registered sex offender for 1st degree sexual assault on a child.
