You may see more Lancaster County Sheriff’s deputies out on the roadways this week. Sheriff Terry Wagner says they will be looking for drug impaired drivers Tuesday through Saturday nights.

“It kind of coincides with 4/20, which is National Marijuana Day,” Wagner says.  The sheriff’s office will increase the number of deputies in marked patrol vehicles during the enforcement effort from 10 p.m. to 3 a.m. each night. They will be concentrating their efforts on traffic law violations and the detection of drug impaired and drunk drivers.

The overtime hours for the additional deputies is paid for through a mini-grant funded by the Nebraska Department of Transportation Highway Safety Office.
