If you want to see what it takes to become a police officer, LPD will be holding two upcoming ‘Meet the Recruiter’ events.  Sergeant Cassie Nielsen says it’s an opportunity for potential applicants and residents to learn more about the police department’s hiring and testing process.

Attendees will get a chance to talk with recruiters and meet with instructors from the Police Academy as well as recent graduates. The City’s Human Resources Department will also be on hand  “We strive to have a positive candidate experience, starting from the application all the way to the hiring process and then the final offer,” says April Kovar with the HR Department.

“This is a great opportunity for us to get that information out to the applicants so that they feel comfortable and we can walk them through everything so then they want to apply with the City.” Sergeant Nissen says attendees will also get a chance to check out the physical testing equipment they use.

“Whatever we can do to help people feel more comfortable with the hiring process,” Nielsen says.    The ‘Meet The Recruiter’ events will be held Monday, March 18 at Anderson Library at 3635 Touzalin Avenue and Thursday, March 21 at Walt Library on 14th Street south of Old Cheney Road.  Both events will run from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.
