Queen’s energetic anthem “Don’t Stop Me Now” rang as the perfect call for viewers to levy their votes and send Lincoln singer Bryan Olesen to the Season 25 semifinals of NBC’s “The Voice.”
Olesen’s Tuesday night live rendition of Queen was indeed voter approved, and now the Lincoln Christian rock singer is among eight other singers advancing to the singing contest show’s live semifinals set for next week, May 13 at 7:00 p.m. CT on NBC and streaming on Peacock TV.
“We’ve got a rock star in the semifinals from Nebraska, everybody,” said “The Voice” host Carson Daly.
Olesen hugged his coach John Legend when he walked off stage, and said to the camera, “Thank you, America.’
At home viewers will again dwindle down the contestants by live online vote. The top four singers and one “instant save” contestant will move on the the “The Voice” finals, airing live on May 21 — winner announced the next day, May 22.

Olesen, 50, has been involved in Lincoln’s local music scene for many years. He performs lead vocals, guitar, and bass for the Christian rock band VOTA (formerly known as Casting Pearls) and also played guitar for the popular Christian band Newsboys from 2003 to 2006. Olesen said his bandmate John Wooten, the drummer of VOTA, encouraged him to audition for “The Voice” when he initially felt skeptical.
Olesen has appeared on KLIN’s airwaves several times, detailing his stunning audition of “Love Runs Out” by OneRepublic, and detailing his battle round performance on Drive Time Nebraska with Doug Fitzgerald.
