A 20-year-old Lincoln man is facing a long list of charges after police say he was involved in two road rage incidents on Tuesday.  LPD Public Information Officer Erika Thomas says around  5:45 p.m. a woman told police she was driving south on 9th Street between Hill and Van Dorn when she saw a blue 2014 Chevy Malibu driving erratically and weaving in and out of traffic.

“While stopped at a red light, the driver began yelling at her and then inched his vehicle forward until it touched the victim’s vehicle and began pushing it forward,” Thomas says.  “The suspect got out of his vehicle and removed his front license plate before leaving the area, but the victim saw the rear license plate as he drove off.”

Thomas says moments later officers were called to investigate an assault at 14th and Old Cheney.  “A second victim reported a blue Chevy Malibu with no front license plate began following him and driving erratically,” Thomas says.

She says both vehicles stopped and the suspect got out and approached the victim’s vehicle while yelling. “He walked back to his vehicle before returning and punching the victim on the left side of his face. Once the light turned green, the victim was able to drive off.”

Officers were able to identify the driver of the Malibu as 20- year-old Grantt Crear of Lincoln.  They arrested him at his apartment on Thursday.   He was taken to the Lancaster County Jail for and booked for assault, disturbing the peace, reckless driving and driving with a suspended license.

Thomas says Crear was also arrested for operating a disorderly vehicle, which is a new law in the City of Lincoln.  Drivers of disorderly vehicles who are cited for racing or reckless driving can have their vehicles impounded.

Crear’s vehicle was towed as a disorderly vehicle. Thomas says LPD has towed four vehicles under the new disorderly vehicle ordinance since it went into effect on April 15.
