A run in the eighth and a run in the ninth were enough to propel Michigan to a 3-1 win over Nebraska baseball Sunday at Hawks Field in Lincoln. The Wolverines (32-19, 15-12 B1G) salvaged the final game of the three-game set against the Cornhuskers (26-26, 13-14 B1G) after Nebraska won on Friday and Saturday.

Cole Caruso started the scoring for Michigan in the second with a home run to left field. Nebraska answered in the bottom of the seventh, when Joshua Overbeek drove in Hogan Helligso with a single to left field. The Wolverines took the lead back in the top of the eighth, when Brayden Jefferis bunted for a hit, scoring Keegan O’Hearn. Caruso tacked on an insurance run in the top of the ninth with his second home run of the day.

Will Rogers (5-2) earned the win for Michigan, allowing just one unearned run in three innings of relief after Tate Carey scattered five hits over the first six innings. Drew Christo (1-2) took the loss for the Huskers, allowing an earned run in 2.2 innings pitched. Jackson Brockett was solid in his final home start for Nebraska, surrendering just one run and two hits in 5.1 innings pitched. Overbeek was 3-for-5 with an RBI and a double in the loss.

The Huskers now prepare for the final weekend of the regular season, beginning Thursday at 5 p.m. at Purdue. Pregame coverage begins at 4:30 p.m. on KLIN. Nebraska enters the last three games of the season in ninth place in the Big Ten standings, needing just one win or help to clinch a bid to the 12-team Big Ten Tournament in Omaha the following week.
