Lincoln to Celebrate ‘National Bike Month’ with Trail Rides, Burritos

The City of Lincoln is inviting residents to celebrate National Bike Month this May by exploring the city’s trail system and participating in a series of bike-friendly events.

Tour de Lincoln (Thursdays at 6 p.m., starting at Jayne Snyder Trails Center):

  • May 1 – Northwest Tour (12 miles)
  • May 8 – Northeast Tour (18 miles)
  • May 15 – Southwest Tour (16 miles)
  • May 22 – Southeast Tour (15 miles)

Bike to Work Day (Friday, May 16, from 7–9 a.m.)

Five trail-side breakfast burrito stations will offer snacks, drinks, and transportation info. Burritos must be pre-ordered by May 11 at lincoln.ne.gov/biketowork.

Locations include: Bethany Park, Holmes Lake Park, Rock Island Trailhead, Lincoln Northwest High School, and Elliott Elementary.

Trail Trek (Sunday, June 22)

This family-friendly ride starts at Lincoln East High School and offers six route options (9 to 48 miles). Registration includes a shirt, lunch, and on-trail snacks. Details: gptn.org
