Lincoln Police believe Thursday afternoon’s multi-vehicle fire in the parking lot of the College of Hair Design near 90th and Andermatt Drive was started by an arsonist.  LPD says three vehicles were destroyed and a fourth was damaged, causing an estimated $41,000 in damage.

LPD Public Information Manager Erika Thomas says the fire started inside at 2013 silver Cadillac Escalade and spread to the others.  “During this call, another officer was dispatched on the report of a stolen vehicle where the victim reported the Escalade had been stolen from the Lodge Apartments sometime early Thursday morning.”

Thomas says the victim had rented the vehicle in another state earlier in the month and discovered it had been stolen on the same day it was due to be returned.  It’s unknown why the Escalade ended up at the 90th and Andermatt location four miles away.

Due to the vehicle being stolen, the fire inspector believes the incident may be arson and the LPD investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to call Lincoln Police at 402-441-6000 or to remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at 402-475-3600.

In addition to to the Escalade, a 2018 white Jeep Compass and a 2011 silver Lincoln MKX were destroyed.  A 2021 red Nissan Versa sustained about $9,000 damage.
