Densmore Park Playground Temporarily Closed For Renovations

By Tom Stanton May 27, 2025 | 1:09 PM

Lincoln Parks and Recreation has announced that the Densmore Park playground on south 14th Street is now closed as work to enhance the park gets underway.  The renovation includes replacing the play surface and the addition of a new swing structure that includes two infant seats, two standard belt seats, and a unity basket.

The park’s primary play structure will remain in the playground and will be updated later with replacement decks and accessories.  “This renovation ensures that the playground remains a safe, accessible, and enjoyable space for families in the community,” says J.J. Yost, Parks and Recreation Assistant Director.

“The new surfacing will provide improved drainage, greater safety, and easier long-term maintenance, while the new swings will enhance play value for all ages and abilities.”  The project is expected to be completed in four weeks, weather permitting.

Residents are encouraged to explore other park playgrounds, including:

  • Vavrina Meadows Park, South 16th Street and Annette Lane
  • Marlene Mini Park, South 19th Street and Marlene Drive
  • Folsom Park, 2310 Herel St.
  • Porter Park, 2810 O’Malley Drive
  • Tierra Williamsburg Park, South 32nd Court and Raleigh Street
  • Peterson Park, Southwood Drive and Nebraska Parkway
